VERBEKE FOUNDATION VISIT
A visit to the Verbeke Foundation was the highlight of this week. Founded in 2007 by art collectors Geert and Carla Verbeke, the Foundation is a remarkable space where modern and contemporary art blend seamlessly with nature. Located in Kemzeke, Belgium, it features an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures, installations, and bio-art, both indoors and across sprawling outdoor landscapes.

Geert Verbeke, a former transport entrepreneur with a passion for art and culture, transformed this site into a sanctuary for unconventional and experimental art. The Foundation's mission is to support artists who explore boundaries and challenge conventional perspectives, making it a hub for innovation and interaction.
What stood out the most during our visit was how the installations actively engage with their environment and the visitors. Many artworks are designed to be interactive, encouraging the audience to step into the world of the artist and become part of the experience. This interplay between art and viewer sparked ideas for incorporating similar dynamics into our own work.

One particularly striking aspect was how the art transforms its surroundings, creating a dialogue between natural elements and human creativity. This gave us invaluable inspiration for designing spaces that invite engagement and foster deeper connections between the observer and the artwork.
The Verbeke Foundation demonstrated the potential of art to go beyond mere observation, creating moments of connection, curiosity, and reflection. It was an experience that broadened our perspective on the possibilities of artistic expression and opened our minds to new ways of making art resonate with its audience.
